It took time for the bundle to catch fire, and much longer for it to burn completely to ash. I let these cool, then scooped them into my little iron cauldron. I walked down to the church located at the center of the circles on the West Side of Santa Cruz and began to walk a labyrinth through the streets and neighborhood. I would stop at trees and sprinkle a pinch of ash and a blessing, slowly, deliberately, intentionally. Spiralling out from that holy ground, blessing my neighbors, my home, the ocean, I felt more and more release until I was as empty as my cauldron.
Now two years have passed, and I contemplate doing this ritual again, with the sweat-soaked rags from the ripped-up cotton sheets that have become my new favorite mopping tool. Simply setting the intention to be able to say, “This too has passed.”
What’s in your bundle? How will you release it? Remember to be mindful, be intentional, and be joyous.
Blessed be.

We had a Full Pink Moon, a micro moon, two weeks ago. What a lovely day for a full immersion ritual.
I started the day purifying my body, scrubbing down with a lava exfoliant respendid in essential oils. Next, I did a self-blessing Reiki ritual with St.John's oil - Affirming, "Too blessed to be stressed, too anointed to be disappointed."
After some light housework, I got into the goodies. I began by carving my intentions on a white candle using my athame - from base to tip, all I was willing and ready to let go of; From tip to base, all I was now welcoming in.
Usually, I'd do a Dragonsblood ritual, but I was out of my beloved resin. Instead, I discovered a sage wand in my attache case of magical goodness, probably back from Herland days, maybe some thirty years old.
It felt so good to smudge myself, the house, and the garden. I always wonder what the neighbors think, but then I remember I live in Santa Cruz and nobody cares if you're out blessing your space.
I did some journaling work and created a collage. Currently, I'm studying Black Moon Lillith in one's astrology chart, and doing this type of shadow work is poignant. We hear a lot about the Super Moon, but here was the Micro Moon, the microscope, the laser, honing in to essential truths and deep revelations.
I placed two bottles of water to be blessed by the moon over the next three days outside on the glass table - one, "Divine Intention," and the other, "Elixir of Life."
I added four tumbled rose quartz stones into a foot bath, relaxing into soothing hot water, remembering that both my Black Moon Lilith and Chiron (the wounded healer) are conjunct in Pisces in my natal chart. I remembered the surgery on my feet (which Pisces rules) and how my daughter would always say I was a witch because I know when it is going to rain when the scars throb.
And so I ended my day of ceremony. The candle had burned to completion, I thanked the four directions, opened the circle, and stepped back into the mundane world - refreshed, rejuvenated, and reinspired.
Blessed be.
Four Elements Cleanse
Start by filing a small glass jar or ceramic jar with kosher salt, Epsom salts, borax or plain table salt. You can add an aromatherapy oil like lavender or bergamot. Shake it well. Hold it in your hands. Infusing it with your intention by saying:
Salt of the earth.
I know my self worth
Crystal transmission
Help me with this transition
Take a pinch and sprinkle it into each corner of the room. Toss some over your left shoulder for good luck. You can also place rose quartz, silver dimes, or healing dirt in the corners, anything representing the earth and its' ability to transform on the physical plane.
Next, sprinkle holy water in each corner to clear emotions. This can be found online, at your local church, or make your own by leaving a crystal or glass bowl outside under the new moon or the full moon for 3 days. Holy water can be infused with crystals, flower petals, and/or aromatherapy oils, as well as your good intentions. Add photographs, power words, or tarot cards placed either on the top or bottom of the bowl. Use it in self-blessing rituals too. Affirm out loud:
Sacred water
Sacred feelings
Release old emotions
For sacred healing
For the element of air, many folks like to burn sage, cedar or pine for their cleansing properties for both the mental and spiritual planes. If you do not like smoke in your dwellings, you can grind the herbs or do pinches of tobacco in the corners. Alternatively, you can use a feather or a (fairy) feather duster to bless the corners. Whisper the words:
With every inhale
I breathe in relief
With every exhale
I breathe out release
For the element of fire, symbolic of your life force and energy, pick a new candle in a color that speaks to you on a chakra level, beeswax preferred. Take an athame (ritual knife) or just a ballpoint pen and carve from bottom to top what is being released from this space or your life as the candle burns it away.
Then carve from the top to the bottom what you're inviting in as the candle burns down. Walk around the room and poke in the four directions. If you do not want to light candles, use a wand or sacred broom to sweep out the energy from each corner.
Sacred Fire
Come and cleanse
Release the old
And begin again
Stand in the center or power spot of the room. Bless yourself with the four elements. Say:
In the name of the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone
I'm here by myself, but I'm never alone
So the ritual is complete
And I am blessed from my head to my feet
Blessed be!
