Keys to Success Ritual

Find two keys that have meaning to you. They might be your house keys, car keys, keys to your workplace, or a beautiful antique that you found at the flea market. Maybe it's an old key that you've been hanging onto for years, or has been lying around in the junk drawer, and maybe you don't even know what it goes to anymore, but just go ahead and bring these two keys together with this particular intention particular purpose (and yes, it's okay to make duplicates or use blank keys from the hardware store).

For the next two weeks (preferably New Moon to Full Moon) keep these two keys underneath your pillow. Every time you go to bed at night hold them in your hands, put them in your armpits, squeeze them between your legs -  anything to really Infuse these keys with your deepest desires, your most heartfelt intentions. Alternatively, wear the keys on a red ribbon around your neck, long enough so they touch your heart chakra. Make a list (in your journal, book of shadows, or a beautiful notecard or piece of stationery) of what is key in your life, i.e., what you truly value on a heartfelt level.

Notice that keys have the capacity to both lock and to unlock. Knowing you are holding the keys to success in your hands, make a list of what you are unlocking/welcoming in/opening up to, on all layers - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Then make another list, of all the loose ends that need to be tied up, any old business/relationships, any closures. Keys can also represent safety, security, etc. What do keys mean to you? The key to success? The key to your heart? Play around in your journal and discover unlocking your own inner secrets.

After 2 weeks (preferably on the Full Moon) take one of the keys and bury it at a crossroads. This could be any intersection: two streets, two paths, a place in your garden, anywhere that you feel there is a sense of multiple opportunities, different steps that could be taken. Bury the key as deep as you want, whatever feels right, notice putting metal into the earth - an act of grounding, like a lightning rod attracting energy to that spot. Visualize of what you want to attract: clients, health, friends, success, love, support, empowerment, right livelihood? Grounding metal into the Earth is a way of establishing a solid feeling of channeling momentum into something that is constructive and productive, like putting in a tent stake and knowing you've taken the steps to protect yourself.

Then, in that particular location, simply notice all of the traffic - cars, pedestrians, or if it is buried out in nature could be ants, deer, the wind - whatever keeps crossing that particular path. Set the intention that any being or energy crossing over the key or near the key is both bringing you all of what you wrote down on your lists. Thus at the crossroads you're bringing in people/energy who will benefit from what you have to offer and you're also releasing those who have been deeply satisfied by your gifts and are happy with your work.

Every time you go by this particular place (which is why it's good to have it pretty close by to your current home or work space) you can keep affirming happy people seeking you out and happy people referring to you. Then on the New Moon or Full Moon you can also bless that place or wherever you have the second key.

What to do with the second key? Well, you can bury it in your own garden, put it in a medicine pouch, keep it on the ribbon around your neck , or keep it on your keychain - whatever is right for you. You are creating an energetic resonance between the crossroads and the key that you are holding onto in order to remind your Consciousness that you are in control, you have the key to success in your and you also recognize the key to success is interacting with other people/energy.

A few years ago, when I learned this ritual up in the mountains, I was blessed to have received two antique keys, one of which I buried at a main cross walk by a church knowing it was Holy Ground.  Every time I go by that place I visualize in my mind the same key which is now hanging in my front window, which in terms of feng shui translates to life path and career. I recognize I have been a helpful person (see helpful people boxes) and I'm inviting in more people who could benefit from what it is I have to offer. This is a win-win situation, which I consider key to personal success.

I hope this is fun, feel free to share your lists with me, and I'll infuse them with good energy. Blessings on this New Moon!

Warmly,
Kayla

Cuddle Meditation

A couple of years ago my sweetie and I went to some workshops on sexuality at our local (and tasteful) adult toy store, Pure Pleasure. The best thing we got out of it was "cuddle meditation" which we have now practiced consistently for two and a half years.

In the mornings, we tend to drink our tea and read/play on the computer for an hour or so. Then we go back upstairs and brush our teeth. Next we get back into bed (no clothes or pjs), and usually I lie on top of (since I'm smaller). We breathe together, hum, giggle, connect chakras, belly laugh, hold silence, and sometimes make love. This can last five to forty-five minutes, depending on work schedules, etc.

The effect has been incredibly positive. We both come from and practice very different spiritual beliefs, and this is way that we can "pray" together. We don't live together and only spend together time Friday through Monday. The first two years of our relationship the distance and separateness was an added strain. Since doing cuddle meditation, we both feel more calm and connected during the week, with much less insecurity and jealousy issues.

Also, when we do have conflict, we both take turns to speak our truth, then end up doing cuddle meditation. The next morning during cuddle meditation we check in to see if we had resolution and completion. This feels very safe, vulnerable and intimate, all at the same time. I highly recommend it.

Have you cuddled mindfully today?

What I love about my life right now

I love working in the mornings and coming home to long afternoons completely by my self, well, of course, with the cats. I love driving Amber to school. I love that she is about to start the adventure known as college, I am equal parts proud and scared, the empty nest looms on the horizon, making me grateful for this day.
I love being in my beautiful house, which is clean, tidy and organized, colorful and bright, full of joy, sunlight, plants and crystals. I love my garden, I love planning on how to make it even better. I love improving my life.
I love my phd program and learning, learning, learning, creating for myself the time to read. I love being a teacher, I love my students, I love imparting information and empowering others.
I love my work, I love my clients, I love seeing them change before my eyes as they tune in to their true nature and are also empowered.
I love my body, I feel strong and healthy, I love my clothes and I love wearing essential oils. I love my cats, that goes without saying. Again I think, I love Amber, watching her blossom before me, I love watching tv together and going out for French fries, quiet times driving in the car listening to the oldies ie my generation, the eighties on the radio.
I love having Chip in my life, I love our communication, our dance, the ways we come together and move apart during the week, someone I don't take for granted and always feel blessed to spend the time together. I love that we take ballroom dance classes and I love, love, love that we will be married. I love being in love, I love feeling happy.

Heart Mandala

For my master's degree, I took an elective on mandala art. We worked from a few texts, my favorite being Mandala: Luminous Symbols for Healing by Judith Cornell, PhD. I will be posting my own mandalas here on my blog, and encourage you to create your own. It was therapeutic, engaging, and most importantly, fun! I used colored pencils on black construction paper, both purchased from my local art store.

For this exercise I found myself creating the outline of a heart in the center of the page in a deep red. Radiating out were rays of orange and yellow, with blues and greens creating a background. It was interesting to contemplate the " black void" of the heart as a contrast to the outpouring of rainbow colors. I enjoyed this a meditation to cultivate light heartedness.

Saturday at the Silent Retreat

As I sat down to breakfast
I noticed Love walk in the door
And put a coffee cup
Across from me

I heard Love buttering a bagel
- Love likes it with jam
Wondering how it would be
With Love across from me

I heard Love gulp down coffee
And slurp on yogurt
I wondered if that’s how Love
Would sound between my thighs

I kept my eyes downcast
Knowing I’d be blinded in the light
But I kept Love in my peripheral vision
I kept Love in my sight.

Viene Aqui

Come to me
My beautiful unknown
Come to me
And I will feed you
Pomegranate Seeds

I will lay out a picnic
On these golden, grassy hills
And invite you to dine
On apples and clemetines

We'll read to each other
Feeding hearts and minds
We'll be drunk on laughter
But I'm still glad I brought
Apricot wine

Come to me
All that I can not imagine
Come to me, and I will feed you
Pomegranate seeds...

Invitation

I invite love now, with an open heart.
I have learned from my past experiences, let go of old baggage,
and arrive with excellent relationship skills and communication tools.
I have good boundaries, I am low maintenance, and I am great in bed.
I welcome love, with open hands now.

I invite union now, with an open mind.
I welcome communion and communication.
The graceful art of co-responding.
I know we will create together in partnership
what we could not create alone.
We combine our energies for the greatest good.
We co-operate and complement each other.
I welcome unity, with open voice now.

I invite marriage now, with open eyes.
My mirror, my mate, my match.
I welcome you to share my home and my bed,
to meet my family and friends,
to feel a part of my fierce tribe.
We combine our resources and fuel each others fire,
nourishing and sustaining our soul's deeper purpose.
I welcome my best friend, my life's companion, my most significant other.
I welcome marriage, with an open arms now.

Blessed Be.

Googled Love Quotes Today

"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two."

-St. Augustine

Kisses on Your Fingertips

Before we love with our hearts we love with our imagination. -Anon

I am thinking about you, I am thinking about you, I am thinking about you. I am thinking about kissing your fingertips. Kissing your finger tips. Kissing. Your fingers. Tips. I am kissing kissing your palm. I am kissing your wrist. I am kissing the skin just inside your elbow. Oh yes.

You don't even know it but I know you can feel it, you who seem to be a million miles away. I see you in my bedroom. I see you in my bed. I see you on the right side. I see you on the left. I see you under me. I see you over me. I see you. I feel you. I smell you. I taste you. I welcome you.

You are in my bed. You are in my bath. You are in the hall. You are in the kitchen. You are in the garden. You are in my car. You are my holding my hand. We are walking up the steps to be welcomed in. I imagine every moment in infinite detail and I smile. I smile. I smile.

I am kissing your finger tips. I am kissing your palms. I am laying your hand against my cheek and looking deeply into your eyes. I am listening to your words, watching your lips, the curl of your tongue, the pulse in your throat. I am listening to your story, listening to your day, listening to your life. I am open and receptive. I drink you in.

We are dancing in the living room. We are swaying in the breeze. We are spooning in a hammock. We are walking down a path. Our steps are in rhythm and we match each other's stride, and in you I take my hope, in you I see my pride.

I am thanking my angels and thanking my guides. I am kissing your fingertips, I'm grateful to be by your side.

Earth Day

It was Celebrate Earth Day
And I was wandering the booths
Demonstrating solar ovens
Here in sunny Santa Cruz

Eating fresh baked chocolate chip cookies
Heated up by just the sun rays
Sipping Mountain Brewery organic beer
Learning about more sustainable ways

Whole Foods and New Leaf
Hand out reusable grocery bags
Local teachers, artists and crafts
Use wool, buttons and rags

Pockets of music seemed to
Fill up any empty space
I walked up to your tent
You met me with an embrace

There is no doubt in me
When our bodies fit together
There is no denying
This feeling light as a feather

We held each other
Just that little bit too long
And I was surprised to find
I had a new heart song

Reducing despair,
Recycling the past
Reusing my emotions
To make something that lasts

But the moment I come back to
On this sunny Earth day
Was that you got up to greet me-
And you met me half way.

VI: The Lovers

There are two beings, naked in their splendor. They have traveled far to meet. This is the time, and this is the place. Their paths cross and a third entity - Love - is born. In the distance is a mountain, their toils of the past to get this far. Between them is is river, gently flowing:

I take delight in
The love that is flowing
just like a river
To the strength of the sea...

And I take delight in
The love that is growing
Just like a river
Between you and me...
(Traditional)

There is green earth under them- they are grounded and stable, a solid foundation. They each come with their gifts - One has a fruit tree in full blossom, feeding them both. A snake winds around the trunk, whispering truth in her ear. She looks to the heavens, as she wonders about worlds of possibilities. The other has a burning bush, keeping them both warm. He looks to her as he has single focus.

Above is the sky, where above a cloud bank an angel of peace brings the message of hope, blessing each of them with outstretched hands. The angel's cloak is the blue of the fifth chakra, communication with love and kindness, kind communication with god. It's wings are purple, color of the higher mind, allowing these beings to rise rather than fall in love. At the apex of the triangle, the angel's hair is a halo of fire, radiant thoughts, and behind the angel is god herself, the blossoming sun, illuminating the whole.

The fog is lifting and the clouds of illusion and despair part as the two lovers come together in perfect love and perfect trust. Each has achieved the trinity within, and now make up the VI: The Six. There is the unity of the one, the polarity of the two, the creativity of the three, the stability of four, fives are the experience of change, and sixes signify the resulting growth. This is a mutually beneficial, reciprocal relationship.

The two beings feel illuminated and blessed, and share their joy with friends and family, their community. They balance and harmonize each other, feeling interdependent and symbiotic, being complementary energies, moving through co-operation and compromise to create together what they could not do individually.

And we can make something bigger
Then anyone of us alone
-Ani DiFranco

Soul Contracts

I have a client I have been working with for some time now, who is extricating herself from an extremely painful relationship. There is much to the story, of course, including a thirty year history exists between the two, and a teenage child. We discussed the concept of relationship being the greatest teacher, and what (hard) life lessons was she learning with this person. And, more importantly, when would she feel she really had learned those lessons and could karmically graduate?

This made me start thinking about soul contracts. It’s interesting that I was “married” to a woman in a time when gay marriage was illegal and there were no domestic partnerships. As well as writing vows, we went through a series of contracts with a lawyer to establish some of the same benefits & privileges that marriage automatically grants. I’m talking about durable power of attorney for health care, durable power of attorney for finances, wills, living trusts, living together agreements including a pre-nup type agreement, and a parenting agreement. We really had to think things through, especially when we broke up.

I remember sitting at the keyboard typing the words “due to irreconcilable differences” and just losing it. I called my dad who was my biggest source of support at the time, and his wise words, “don’t drag it out”, and the papers were notarized the next day. There’s a lot of talk about gay marriage with Prop 8, but what really needs to be discussed is gay divorce.

While we had planned to go to court for a 2nd parent adoption for our child, we broke up before the process was complete, but we have both stuck to our parenting agreement for over a decade. While I have never been legally acknowledged as my child's parent,( ie no tax benefits, no insurance benefits for her, etc.), certainly I have been the other parent at every PTA meeting, every doctor’s appointment. I have paid for everything out of my own personal sense of ethics and moral obligation.

While it is easy for me to see I have a soul contract with my daughter, it was interesting to review what were my feelings about still having a contract with my ex-spouse, ten years after our divorce. Was there anything I was still hanging onto that makes me emotionally unavailable now? One purpose of the soul contract is for release - conscious and SUBCONSCIOUS release - but that starts with noting what leases (contracts) have I made.

Anyway, I came up with the following soul contracts as an exercise to clarify and create release. Some key questions in writing a soul contract are:

• what are the lessons to be learned
• what price are you willing to pay
• what point will you know that the contract has been fulfilled
• space for amendments - good lourdes, you are human and might change your mind sometime in the future!

I found some parchment paper and thought about using red ink, but there’s only so many contracts I’ll write in blood. I filed my contracts away with other important documents, like my will and house deeds. It will be interesting to see what my client come up with. Meanwhile, here are some of mine as examples:

Soul Contract with My Self
I, KGR, do hereby acknowledge that I am a spiritual being currently living in a physical body. In this lifetime, I have a contract with this body to:

• Maintain this physical body to operate at maximum health and well being
• Nurture and develop emotional intelligence
• Feed this mind and intellect, encourage curiosity and be engaged in creative and productive ways
• Encourage my own process as a spiritual being having a human experience on planet earth
• Foster joy, love, light and laughter
• To experience happiness
• To love and cherish my life mate
• To love and cherish my family: my daughter, my parents and brother, my extended network of friends and my many familiars

This contract may be amended to at any time, and will never expire. All former contracts, karmic and otherwise, are hereby dissolved and released. All past debts are hereby considered paid in full. All future contracts will be made if and only if they are in my highest good. So Mote It Be.

Soul Contract with my Child
I, KGR, do hereby acknowledge a soul contract with AXR. In this lifetime, I am here to learn how to mother, nurture and cherish this being. I willingly take on this contract, knowing I have a financial, emotional and spiritual commitment to this being's heath, well-being and development as a person. This contract will never expire although it will be complete in this lifetime. So Mote It Be.

Soul Contract with a Soul Mate
I, KGR, do hereby acknowledge a soul contract with JDR. In this lifetime, I have the lessons to learn of

• Marriage
• Self-love
• Commitment
• Parenting

I willingly took on this contract, knowing that I would pay a price in exchange. I have sacrificed my time and energy for the lessons received.

This contract will expire as of today. I acknowledge that:

• Our marriage is dissolved and we are each free now to pursue new, healthy partnerships
• I have learned self love
• I have transferred my commitment to being co-allies and co-parents
• I make a commitment to keep communication open only as it benefits our child in the highest good.

All karmic debts are hereby released and dissolved between us. The past is complete and we are both set free. All is forgiven for each of these two beings to now move on in their separate life journeys.

So Mote It Be.

Sex for Health!

1. Sex is a beauty treatment. Scientific tests find that when women make love they produce amounts of the hormone estrogen, which makes hair shine and skin smooth.

2. Gentle, relaxed lovemaking reduces your chances of suffering dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes. The sweat produced cleanses the pores and makes your skin glow.

3. Lovemaking can burn up those calories you piled on during that romantic dinner.

4. Sex is one of the safest sports you can take up. It stretches and tones up just about every muscle in the body. It's more enjoyable than swimming 20 laps, and you don't need special sneakers!

5. Sex is an instant cure for mild depression. It releases endorphins into the bloodstream, producing a sense of euphoria and leaving you with a feeling of well-being.

6.. The more sex you have, the more you will be offered. The sexually active body gives off greater quantities of chemicals called pheromones. These subtle sex perfumes drive the opposite sex crazy!

7 Sex is the safest tranquilizer in the world. IT IS 10 TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE THAN VALIUM.

8. Kissing each day will keep the dentist away. Kissing encourages saliva to wash food from the teeth and lowers the level of the acid that causes decay, preventing plaque build-up.

9. Sex actually relieves headaches. A lovemaking session can release the tension that restricts blood vessels in the brain.

10. A lot of lovemaking can unblock a stuffy nose. Sex is a natural antihistamine. It can help combat asthma and hay fever.
