Keys to Success Ritual

Find two keys that have meaning to you. They might be your house keys, car keys, keys to your workplace, or a beautiful antique that you found at the flea market. Maybe it's an old key that you've been hanging onto for years, or has been lying around in the junk drawer, and maybe you don't even know what it goes to anymore, but just go ahead and bring these two keys together with this particular intention particular purpose (and yes, it's okay to make duplicates or use blank keys from the hardware store).

For the next two weeks (preferably New Moon to Full Moon) keep these two keys underneath your pillow. Every time you go to bed at night hold them in your hands, put them in your armpits, squeeze them between your legs -  anything to really Infuse these keys with your deepest desires, your most heartfelt intentions. Alternatively, wear the keys on a red ribbon around your neck, long enough so they touch your heart chakra. Make a list (in your journal, book of shadows, or a beautiful notecard or piece of stationery) of what is key in your life, i.e., what you truly value on a heartfelt level.

Notice that keys have the capacity to both lock and to unlock. Knowing you are holding the keys to success in your hands, make a list of what you are unlocking/welcoming in/opening up to, on all layers - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Then make another list, of all the loose ends that need to be tied up, any old business/relationships, any closures. Keys can also represent safety, security, etc. What do keys mean to you? The key to success? The key to your heart? Play around in your journal and discover unlocking your own inner secrets.

After 2 weeks (preferably on the Full Moon) take one of the keys and bury it at a crossroads. This could be any intersection: two streets, two paths, a place in your garden, anywhere that you feel there is a sense of multiple opportunities, different steps that could be taken. Bury the key as deep as you want, whatever feels right, notice putting metal into the earth - an act of grounding, like a lightning rod attracting energy to that spot. Visualize of what you want to attract: clients, health, friends, success, love, support, empowerment, right livelihood? Grounding metal into the Earth is a way of establishing a solid feeling of channeling momentum into something that is constructive and productive, like putting in a tent stake and knowing you've taken the steps to protect yourself.

Then, in that particular location, simply notice all of the traffic - cars, pedestrians, or if it is buried out in nature could be ants, deer, the wind - whatever keeps crossing that particular path. Set the intention that any being or energy crossing over the key or near the key is both bringing you all of what you wrote down on your lists. Thus at the crossroads you're bringing in people/energy who will benefit from what you have to offer and you're also releasing those who have been deeply satisfied by your gifts and are happy with your work.

Every time you go by this particular place (which is why it's good to have it pretty close by to your current home or work space) you can keep affirming happy people seeking you out and happy people referring to you. Then on the New Moon or Full Moon you can also bless that place or wherever you have the second key.

What to do with the second key? Well, you can bury it in your own garden, put it in a medicine pouch, keep it on the ribbon around your neck , or keep it on your keychain - whatever is right for you. You are creating an energetic resonance between the crossroads and the key that you are holding onto in order to remind your Consciousness that you are in control, you have the key to success in your and you also recognize the key to success is interacting with other people/energy.

A few years ago, when I learned this ritual up in the mountains, I was blessed to have received two antique keys, one of which I buried at a main cross walk by a church knowing it was Holy Ground.  Every time I go by that place I visualize in my mind the same key which is now hanging in my front window, which in terms of feng shui translates to life path and career. I recognize I have been a helpful person (see helpful people boxes) and I'm inviting in more people who could benefit from what it is I have to offer. This is a win-win situation, which I consider key to personal success.

I hope this is fun, feel free to share your lists with me, and I'll infuse them with good energy. Blessings on this New Moon!

Warmly,
Kayla

"Speak to the queen within, and the queen will answer" -Norwegian proverb

To be in gratitude is to recognize what we are grateful for, what we value in our lives. Today's key question is: What do I LOVE about Abundance? What do I appreciate? What do I enjoy? Writing goals and steps to goals are key in achieving what we desire. Whether you journal or blog, start by listing what you love...

I decided to post mine to my blog over the next nine days, as the internet has an amazing way to amplify energy and put thoughts & energy out to the Universe. Thoughts on Values

It's 09/09/09 and spam texts (spexts?) about what a lucky day you will have by forwarding this message. "Luck is being prepared for opportunity when it comes" is what springs to mind, this Moon in Taurus and Mercury Retrograde Tuesday.

I started the day around 6:30 am posting on Twitter that now was a good time to re-assess all you value most. Health, time, money, possessions, resources or laughter? Send thanks.

At 7:30 am I began my Leads group by writing on the board "What do I value? In myself, in my business, in my clients?" and had the members meditate upon this during our 60 seconds of silence. At the end of the meeting, during our second promotional, members shared what it was they valued.

It was so powerful to hear these 20 women affirm over and over how much they valued being connected to their clients, for being in service, and for being able to give their gifts, whether the ancient art of acupuncture, sound advice on healthy nutrition, or the ability to bring ease and organization into someone's life.

Taurus rules the second house in astrology: our physical bodies, physical homes, gardens, possessions, money, all that we "have" in our lives. We hear a lot about "family values" as some sort of moral staging, but to value something means to take care of it, to cherish and tend to it. I'm getting ready to teach my class on Creative Abundance in a few weeks, and what came to me today was: "In order for your Assets to Appreciate—Appreciate your Assets." Just watch - it'll be my next tweet.

Mercury is just kissing Libra before sliding back into the arms of Virgo, who could be aptly named Sweeping Beauty. All of my appointments today had the theme of "cleaning house", those psychic cobwebs of the mind. What with Jupiter retro all summer, a lot of folks have felt stuck in a glut - Jupiter can be the gourmet or the gourmand. The gourmet wants the finest in life - the gourmand just wants to have his cake and then eat two. The opportunity for reviewing one's health and in particular one's habits is really up for grabs right now. Notice what used to be comforting is now just comfortable. It's time to stop medicating and start meditating. Value your body, value your personal space, and begin to make small gentle adjustments to ease yourself into a sense of well being.

So what do I value? Here's what I shared:

I value myself, my business and my clients.
I value the trust my clients put into me.
I value the stories that they share-It keeps me humble and it keeps me helpful.

I value being a helpful person.
I value being a resource.
If I can't help you, I probably know somebody who can.

I value sharing the tools that I have learned.
I know they have made a difference in my life
and that they create ease in the lives of others.

I value my education.
I value my 23 years of experience.
I value myself as a good listener.

I value my integrity.

Blessed Be.

And remember, you create your own luck!

Thoughts on Work

I just finished reading The Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss, which was recommended by one of my colleagues. There are some great ideas and excellent resources in this book, although it does tend to smack of yet another get "new rich" quick scheme. I am well aware that the author is only in his early thirties, and it remains to be seen just how sustainable his finances and lifestyle plan really is in the long run.

I think I would have been more convinced if the author hadn't bragged about winning his kick boxing championship by merely pushing his opponents off the ring, but who am I to look a gift loophole in the mouth. He has an entertaining website complete with worksheets to create your NR (New Rich) lifestyle, blogs & twitters on his latest escapades, which makes me wonder if he's bored without meaningful work to wake up to in the mornings.

I did get a lot out of the 80/20 rule. 80% of your profits come from 20% of your clients - send them love letters, if not chocolate (my advice, not Mr. Ferriss'). 80% of your problems come from 20% of your clients - fire them. Delete them from your mailing lists, etc, stop wasting time, money & effort. I can't tell you how good it has felt to fire a few of my clients, especially when I calculate the emotional price I have paid.

I loved Mr. Ferriss' break down on minimizing emails and his advice to simply avoid as many meetings as possible, and have switched as much of my work to be more remote as well as to create a more mobile & efficient work environment. Already my life is simpler. Now if I could only get my virtual assistant to take my mother out to lunch instead of me, my life would be perfect.

Thoughts on Moderation

Throw moderation to the winds,
and the greatest pleasures bring the greatest pains.
- Democritus

In one of my money meditations that I teach, there is the part:

I am wise with my money. I dedicate part to pay off my debts easily and effortlessly; part for my savings, which I then invest and watch grow; and the remainder I live on in comfort and moderation. I am now in a position to bless money as it goes out to pay my bills and pleasures, knowing it will return threefold.

Folks really resist that word, moderation. It's interesting to see them balk - no, I want EVEN MORE MORE MORE so I can live in lavish, luxurious excess!

It is exactly this greedy attitude that keeps folks in a constant struggle to feel rich, no matter what their current income or standard of living. We live in an age of American Obesity, of the 59 cent Happy Meal, where we are encouraged to "Super Size it" - is it any wonder people shudder at the thought of moderation? But what of it's opposite - excess?

Do you over eat, over drink, over work, over spend, over sleep, over do it or over extend yourself? Are you over sexed or are over sex? Are you over weight, over anxious, over limit, or over time? Are you just over it?

It is through moderation that we can nourish our financial dreams and plan for a comfortable future, rather than living in a need for constant, over indulgence as personified by microwave brownies (remember that commercial for instant, total, gratification, yeah! Ick.) Notice that in the meditation there is the affirmation of living in comfort, of paying for one's bills & pleasures. Moderation is not about denial. Living under one's means is just as stultifying as living over them.

Do you feel under stress, under strain, under duress, under paid, under fed, under nourished, under appreciated, under rug swept or just like the under dog? Under the weather or just under the wire? Under someone's thumb?

A visit to the Wikipedia brings these insights:
Moderation is the process of eliminating or lessening extremes. It is used to ensure normality throughout the medium on which it is being conducted. Moderation is also a principle of life. In ancient Greece, the temple of Apollo at Delphi bore the inscription Meden Agan - Nothing in Excess. Then again, Horace Porter reminds us Be moderate in everything, including moderation.

Ask your self this - do you control your money, or does your money control you? Moderation is a simple technique anyone can master, be it a moderate diet or moderate budget. Balance is key, rather than swinging pendulum like to the extremes. Practice balance in your steps, balance in your breath, balance your diet, balance your checkbook, balance in your mind, balance work & play, and remember:

Everything in moderation - but don't miss a thing. -Anon

Money Tree Meditation

Money Tree Meditation
• Draw a tree (or copy one of these) with branches reaching into the sky, and roots going into the earth. What kind of tree comes to mind? Oak, bamboo, willow, fir, pine... notice which feels right to you. Make it simple, add a little grass or a backdrop with mountains, whatever you like.

• In the trunk of the tree, put in your face or whole being, a favorite quote or affirmation, the meditation below or even just the words, “I am the Source”.

• In the branches, write in all your sources of abundance, including income, trades, dividends, inheritances, gifts, alimony, all other sources of financial support, etc.

• In the roots, write in all your resources, including education, past jobs, family, property, investments, fields of expertise, experience, etc.

• For the leaves, go around each branch with a green pen and make dollar signs. Cover it!

• In the mountains, write in your financial goals and dreams.

• In the grass, write in what you are providing to the universe, for example:
• I provide food, clothing & shelter for myself & my family
• I provide space and energy for my clients
• I provide jobs in my community, from restaurants to utility services
• My taxes provide for community services including schools, parks, roads,& health care
• I provide stability for myself, knowing the seasons turnings.

I am a
Money Tree.
I am the Source.
I let go of suckers, prune away dead wood,
make room for new growth.
I dig my roots deep into the rich soil and
open my leaves to the rich air
to draw in what I need
to grow and blossom into my fullest potential.
In return I give my gifts generously,
knowing my thoughts & ideas
are like the leaves on the tree -
I let go and give the gift of usable energy.
I am provide shade and beauty,
a place to nest, and
a way to recycle, renew & revive.
Blessed Be.

Money Meditation

I am a skilled practitioner of the healing arts and an excellent businesswoman. I have many, deeply satisfied repeat clients, who pay me highly, and who spread the kind word to their friends and family who would also benefit from my services. I know that work is love made visible, and I enjoy my chosen path in creating right livelihood for myself and my loved ones.

I live each day feeling wealthy, open-hearted and free. I trust that I will have what I need because I trust the financial wisdom within myself. I trust that money comes into my life to provide what I need. I am responsible with my money, and I am generous with my money. I contribute to all that I want to see flourish in myself, my family, my community, & my charities.

I am now truly at peace with money.
Blessed Be.
